Girls’ Weekend in Winter Park, Florida

Girls’ Weekend in Winter Park, Florida

When your brain feels mushy, and you barely remember who you were before kids and a schedule, arrange a stay with friends at the Alfond Inn in Winter Park, one of Florida’s best kept secrets. A few miles from the hullabaloo of Orlando’s theme parks, the historic small town is an outpost of civilized living […]

Food

Food, Glorious Food I can’t really step foot out of bed until I decide what I’m having for breakfast. I think about food all day and, as a travel writer, have had the privilege of being wined and dined at outstanding restaurants in major cities in the U.S. and in Italy, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, […]

Note: Old Dixie Road in the West Palm Beach area is also known as Antiques Row. Visiting various antique outposts makes a delightful Saturday afternoon, even if you’re only dreaming.http://www.westpalmbeachantiques.com. Destinations, Hotels & Spas

Destinations, Hotels & Spas

I first discovered Rosemary Beach when I visited Seaside, Florida with my family in 1998. It was just a few buildings, sand and water. I went back with my sister, Phyllis, to Seaside and Rosemary Beach as homes became available for rent in the early 2000s. There were still no restaurants or shopping other than on the beach, but there was a warm Mediterranean feeling to the homes and no obstacles to beach views and an infinity pool with fabulous style. Most recently, I was on a press trip to Rosemary Beach that knocked my socks off. Food, wine, and shopping are sophisticated, but offered with warm service. The larger homes for rent, especially, are some of my favorites anywhere in the world. I love this area of Florida along 30A. It’s a great retreat for couples, friends, families, or even as a single seeking peaceful pleasures. Let me know what you think if you visit.

LOVE TO CRUISE

An Accidental Vegan: Holistic Holiday at Sea By Judy Kirkwood I had no plans to go vegan before a writer friend had a schedule conflict that prevented her from going on an annual vegan/macrobiotic cruise organized by her childhood friend, Sandy Pukel. I had been on various health kicks to decrease my cholesterol not to […]
